Sea Star Gives Back
The student of the month program was established in 2007 to acknowledge excellence at the Southside Estates Elementary School. A panel of teachers, parents and civic volunteers gather once a month to review nomination submitted by teachers. The panel then reviews submissions and evaluate candidates based on the 13 criteria to include academic progress, citizenship, and attitude, established to foster higher achievement by the students. The top three finishers are awarded gift certificates to their favorite toy store… Toys R Us! The program is one of the most celebrated activities at the school and is has had a major impact on raising the bar for all the students of Southside Estates Elementary School. Giving back to the communities we serve is an integral part of Sea Star’s company culture. Every year, Sea Star Line becomes more and more engaged in the local community both through the commitment of dollars and the investment of the time of its employees. Since 2004, Sea Star has contributed over $670,000 to a variety of charitable entities as well as supporting employee/family sport, recreational and community events.
